OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
The main objectives of the SIFT project are the following:
· To offer European Internet users a more reliable means
of filtering web content by implementing a platform which will integrate
filtering based on self-labelling and machine-generated labels with
the widest possible range of alternative filtering technologies.
The platform will be based on the ICRA model and current available
technologies to work on both stand alone PCs and networks.
· To provide content analysis filters for each of the nudity
and sexual content descriptors in the ICRA matrix. The filters will
be produced using NCSR machine learning technology to classify content
based on examples. These will analyse content in (at least) English,
French and German but the platform itself will not be restricted
to these languages. Classification will generate "pseudo-labels"
that might augment the ICRA database and will encourage self-labelling.
· To demonstrate the ability of the Integration Platform
to work with other types of filters by using OPTENET's filtering
solution, which works in six European languages.
· To make available an interface through which other filtering
solutions can be configured to work with the Platform.
